Artist Statement
I’m Cristina Powell.
In 1988, when I was four days old, I was adopted from Lima, Peru. At fifteen months, I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and a movement disorder.
When I look at my paintings, I can’t believe it’s my very own artwork! I’m impressed to see how much I do, including writing creative stories and making others happy, like my friends at the retirement home. It feels so good to smile and be happy. I’m very thankful and proud of what I can do...

Short Story
A Note from Cristina!
May this beautiful day bring you happy thoughts!
I wanted to let everyone know I got a ‘Thank You’ note from the Her Highness of Qatar, Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Bin Abdullah Al – Missner. It was such a happy surprise! She thanked me for the painting ‘A Brighter Way.’ Another day, my mom and I saw the governor of Boston after he gave a talk at the Holiday Inn Hotel. It was very nice to meet Governor Patrick!
It was fun telling you such exciting news! I do want to let everyone know… my mom and I will be leaving in July for Michigan. We will be back in September! Please feel free to contact me by calling or emailing me. Thank you everyone for your excitement and support!
Love and smiles, Cristina
